Vision: I was Tithing to the enemy

When I recently attended The Gathering with Praying Medic and some other awesome peeps, I did not know hardly anything about healing the soul. Words like “Soul Fragments” and “Alters” freaked me out a little bit, but after having a series of visions around this topic, I felt God wanting to get my attention. (Want more info? I was even having visions of my own soul fragments/alters, drew pictures of them, and then had them confirmed in some inner healing ministry without telling the healer about my pictures! Well, then another vision came up, as well as a Word from the Lord.

There were clearly some Masonic ties going on with some of the warfare and fragments I have been dealing with. Clearly. As in: no doubt. My grandfather and great-grandfather were high level Masons. On the other side of my family, some powerful prophetess prayer warriors, seers and Believers. Quite the mixed family tree. I have been praying to be set free from the Masonic ties and some ritual abuse as a child and I have done some deliverance, curse breaking and now some soul fragment work.

But one day, the Lord said: “You say you want to be set free, but you are saying otherwise with your finances. You are tithing to the Masons, every month, and you have been tithing to them longer than you have been tithing to Me! You are supporting that occult financially, and every dollar is a seed you plant with your choices. You reap what you sew, so sew into my Kingdom, not the enemy’s camp.” With this Word came an open vision:

In my vision, there was a line drawn right down the middle of the sky. On the right side was God’s tent, complete with a scene that looked like a Civil War army camp. Angelic hosts, creatures and foot soldiers were busy: in and out of tents, in and out of the earth and sky and Heavens. On the left side, the enemy’s camp. Demons also bustled about, and people captive to the enemy were lined up in countless rows. I saw myself enter the enemy’s camp, and right in the middle of camp, I knelt down and planted a seed that happened to look just like a one dollar bill. The seed grew and grew, and became a fruit-bearing tree, but it was feeding the enemy and its’ troops! The soldiers in God’s camp turned into orphans and widows and people from every tribe, hungry and calling out for help. Jesus was saying to me in my ear: Imagine every dollar is a seed, one that grows up into a fruit-producing tree with sometimes a thousand-fold production from the original investment.” But it is just one dollar, I argued! What impact could one dollar make? He replied, “In my Kingdom, every dollar is either a seed planted in my Camp, or a seed planted in the enemy’s camp. They each grow up to be fruit-producing trees, but whose army do you want to feed?” Wow! This was a wake-up call for sure!

Jesus spoke in parables a lot, and that seems to be the way He speaks with me, probably because I think in pictures and have a child-like, picture-book understanding of complex Kingdom matters. This story made quite an impact on me and I think is a great illustration.

As I came out of the vision, God continued to speak to me about it then and in the weeks that followed. I asked Him where and how I had been tithing to the enemy. He told me to audit every dollar coming in and out of the house and pray about what I found. When I found it, it jumped off the page as if it were highlighted, and the Lord said: “Kick the enemy out of your house, and you will be set free.” He has been telling me to “clean house” (II Kings 21) all year, and this was just one more area to clean up.

The “dollar” I was planting in the enemy’s camp seemed quite innocuous. It was a monthly autoship to a company that carried health and wellness products. I spent money with them every month because they were “green”, helped my house be more “safe” and “less toxic”, and were even an in-state company (I try to keep my dollars as local as possible). But the company’s founder has very strong ties to an organization founded in Masonic Cult traditions. “Ding ding ding” went off in my Spirit, literally. “You are tithing to the enemy, and need to be more careful that what you say you want to be free from, and what you sew into, match up,” I heard once again. Once I canceled them, an oppression just seemed to lift, and it was like my prayers had found an open Heaven finally.

The Lord has been talking to me about releasing this Word for others. He has said that if His people would treat every dollar as a seed, choosing to plant into His Kingdom for advancement, or into the enemy’s camp for retreat, that spiritual tides would turn. You see, money has power in the natural and supernatural. God does not need our finances or our tithes, but His people do, and where our hearts are, there our treasure will be also.

Only nine percent of Born Again Believers even tithe ten percent(1) and if Believers did tithe 10%, the world would have $165 Billion dollars more to make change in the world.(2). But what about another option? What if Believers started just giving what they already have? Like moving some money around? Or tithing more with their time and talents? Give from what you already have, and God will give you increase. The number one key I have learned when it comes to tithing is obedience. I’m not saying that God expects everyone to cancel their autoships to products backed by cults. But what if He is? Ask Him.

I do feel that God is calling all of us to audit our finances. He wants to open Heaven’s storehouses, it’s just that sometimes we are blocking His blessings. I also recently saw someone in the spirit, and she looked like a porcupine. She and her husband were complaining about finances, and about how many people had prayed over them for financial breakthrough. When I looked up, there were bills falling from Heaven, right above her, but they were getting stuck in her quills. The Lord whispered, “She is blocking hers’ and her husband’s blessings with her prickly spirit.” There were stacks of bills just sitting there, skewered on her quills, and I saw that if she laid down her bristles they would slide off and be accessible. I couldn’t help but almost laugh out loud when I heard her complaining and saw her face morph into a porcupine with stacks of bills sticking up all around her. I kept quiet, feeling she would not receive the word from me, but I have been praying for her instead. So, the Lord wants to give good gifts to His children, but there may be some legalities or blockages as to why it’s not getting through.

I highly recommend the book The Blessed Life. Evaluate every dollar that is coming and going out of your house. Treat every dollar as a seed. Where do you want to plant it? In God’s camp or in the enemy’s camp? Do you want to support Christian Radio (highly recommended)? PureFlix vs Netflix? Hand out $100 bills wherever the Lord directs? Sponsor an orphan locally or overseas? Pay for a Christian book, class, or seminar, conference with part of your tithe money if God directs? How about supporting a Christian cosmetics or jewelry company over another that carries the same thing (Like Premiere Designs). What do you buy every day that could be bought from a Christian business? We have a great local Christian Business Directory here and I have never even used it! So, I am “preaching” to myself as I write! Remember, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, so don’t make it a religious spirit thing and worry or stress about it, but ask God and be obedient to his direction.

Read Matthew chapter 6, all of it. But especially Matthew 6:19-21 (NASB): “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. (20)“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; (21) for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The Lord has been working on my heart and home in several areas, and finances is definitely one of them. Remember that God does not need our money, but money is important to God and to the Kingdom. Where we are spending our money is also important to accusations the enemy may have against us.

I am learning this lesson as I go as well. I only started tithing faithfully a year ago, and my hubby joined me several months later; but I cannot even rightly count the money miracles that have happened since then. Obedience is the key, and God is faithful to provide, so cast all your cares on Jesus.

How to End Night Terrors (part ii)

One of the main complaints I hear in my Dr. Amen Brain Health Coaching Practice from parents of young children is regarding night terrors, but they are not isolated to children.

I can relate. My earliest memories starting around age two were of nightly night terrors. And I wet the bed until about age ten. According to Nutrition and Mental Illness by Carl C. Pfeiffer, considered one of the foremost experts of all time when it comes to orthomolecular mental health, night terrors are primarily caused by a B6 deficiency.

Some primary causes of Night Terrors and Bed-Wetting: A vitamin B6 deficiency, toxicity, abuse, or spiritual/home-life issues can all cause night terrors.

  1. Vitamin B6-  Night terrors can be alleviated by taking 300-500 mg of B6 per night for weeks or months. Take enough until “pleasant dream recall” is achieved.
  2. Watching horror movies or violent or scary video games- even having them present in the home can also trigger night terrors.
  3. Spiritual Warfare- Some people describe feeling like they are being suffocating or having pressure on their chest when they awake from a night terror originating from a demonic source. Pray in the name of Jesus, and I will have a future blog dedicated to activations and prayers for sleep.
  4.  Open Spiritual Doors in your home- Yes, there can be open doors, window, portals, or holes in the spiritual ether of your home.My testimony: weird things started happening in our home. My husband was having dreams of demons and my children all started having night terrors at once. One life-changing night, it was like a massive swirl of darkness filled me. Rage, mixed moods, rapid cycling, and visions of death filled me. It was unlike anything I had experienced before, it was so much worse, and I wanted to throw myself out the window to stop the torture. I had never felt such extreme states before.Unbeknownst to me, I had let a lady do some cranial work on me and attended some yoga classes that had opened some doors in our home (the Lord later showed me in visions what had caused the problem). After many restless nights, we prayed over the house and our children. Their night terrors stopped even though they did not know what had happened or why we were praying. Apparently their nightmares were not caused by a B6 deficiency. When you are a mom and you see your child having nightmares every night for months and then they go away all of a sudden, you know. You just know. Deliverance ministry or praying over your home is a good way to close these doors. 
  5. “Stuff” in the home: Things like Dream Catchers, idols, statues, pictures, crystals, books and more can be a source of night terrors. Native Indian people, shamans, psychics and more can sometimes see into the spiritual world of darkness in an ‘unauthorized manner’. Dream catchers, or anything having to do with the occult, merely attract evil spirits and demonic activity and provide no means of protection from them. Using dream catchers is an open door and an invitation for more nightmares to join in. Ever felt like a picture was “following” you with it’s eyes? Get rid of it. Books on the occult? Get rid of them.
  6. Bed-wetting is a sign of toxicity overload. Minerals help chelate the toxins out of the body, thus reducing the bladder’s urge to get rid of them spontaneously in the middle of the night. This will be discussed more in book three of the Med Free Method™ Book Series: Med Free Child, but following the Med Free Method™ inside my book Med Free Bipolar would be helpful until I can get that book out. We have had many children, especially autistic children, respond to a therapy treatment of Empowerplus Q96 for the brain, detox and it even includes some B6, though not always enough to combat night terrors. Bed wetting has stopped but resumes when the Q96 is discontinued.
  7. Abuse and Trauma- Child, Adult, PTSD-related trauma and abuse can also cause night terrors. Empowerplus Q96  is also an effective treatment for PTSD and even has some great studies proving efficacy. Emotional Healing, International Association of Healing Rooms, and other Christian-based therapies can be helpful, in addition to the B6 and Q96. WholeTones music and color therapy is also something I have found to have some success with.

So, of the above possible causes, I had several. I was born deficient and had colic and probably toxicity overload, gut issues and more physically. Then I suffered demonic ritual abuse from a relative, and physical abuse at a daycare. I had multiple possible causes for night terrors, but seeming as the fear was removed by a prayer and a wooden cross that my dad made me, (after I sat up in bed and growled at him after one such night terror), mine were likely spiritual-warfare-based.

Night Terrors, Nightmares and Dreams from a Biblical Perspective:

  1. God Has Promised Us Protection Against Nightmares.

Psalm 4:8: I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for Thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
Psalm 91:5a,6a Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night … 6a Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness.
Proverbs 3:24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

2. We Shouldn’t Feel Intimidated Or Condemned By Nightmares, But Recognize Them As The Spiritual Attacks Of The Enemy That They Are, And Resist And Overcome Them With The Lord’s Help.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Peter 5:8,9a Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9a Whom resist stedfast in the faith.

3. Avoid Bad Experiences or Sights, if Possible

Psalm 101:3a I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: … it shall not cleave to me.
Psalm 119:37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken Thou me in Thy way.
Romans 12:9b Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
1 Peter 1:13a Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind.

4. Some Bad Dreams come from Simple, Natural Causes, Or Can Be Spiritually Meaningless.

Ecclesiastes 5:3a [Going to sleep with our minds still filled with concerns of the day:] For a dream cometh through the multitude of business.
Ecclesiastes 5:7 For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.
Isaiah 29:8a [Something we ate or some unmet physical need:] It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite.

5. Our First And Surest Defense Against Nightmares Is To Pray Against Them!

Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Matthew 18:18a Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven.
Matthew 18:19 [Ask others to pray with you:] Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in Heaven.
Ephesians 6:12,13,16,18 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. … 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. … 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all

6. We Should Also Specifically Ask The Lord For Positive, Edifying, Faith-Building Dreams, Which God Has Promised To Give To His Children.

Numbers 12:6b I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
Job 33:15-17 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; 16 Then He openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, 17 That He may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
Jeremiah 23:28a The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath My Word, let him speak My Word faithfully.
Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

8. Don’t Dwell on Past Night Terrors

Psalm 119:37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken Thou me in Thy way.
Ephesians 4:27 Neither give place to the Devil.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 1:28a And in nothing terrified by your adversaries.

How to Turn Your Brain Off to Sleep (part i)

Natural Cures for Insomnia (Excerpt from my book: Med Free Bipolar, Ch. 10) 

As a Dr Amen Certified Brain Health Coach, I would estimate that about 75% of my clients report this major sleep problem: they just can’t turn their brain OFF at night to go to sleep!

Did you know that your brain actually has neurotransmitters that function as ON and OFF switches? I used to have this same problem, and had to take Ambien to even get any sleep; that is not very congruous for an author who writes med free books!

My husband can say: “goodnight” and be snoring within 30 seconds! How does he do that?! I asked him one time how he does that and he replied, “I don’t know, I just tell my brain to turn off, and it does. It’s like an “off switch in my brain.” Ugh! I don’t have one of those I thought!

Nothing seems to mess your day worse than irregular sleep, and my sleep trouble started around age two with night terrors (I will later do a whole blog on how to stop these)!

I think it is important to find sleep aids from natural sources if you have trouble falling asleep on your own.  For me, I sometimes need to use several tactics, especially in the fall when I still get some mild hypomanic break-through symptoms (formerly diagnosed bipolar 1).

I understand that sleep is often difficult for the many people’s. There are things that can augment and compliment other natural therapies instead of throwing chemicals at a brain that may not tolerate them as well as a brain that is stabilized.

Look for Sleep combinations that contain GABA-

THIS IS THE MOTHER SHIP of HOW TO TURN YOUR BRAIN OFF!

GABA is the “OFF” switch to the brain (I seem to have been born without one)

These ones with GABA work great for me, and when I looked into why they might work, it made a lot of sense. It does not work for everyone, however, even those with racing thoughts.

GABA- Many natural sleep aids contain GABA (Gamma-amino butyric acid), which is produced by neurons in the brain. It is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in our central nervous system. I had finally found my brain’s “off switch.”  GABA can be an excitatory neurotransmitter in a developing brain, so it may have the opposite effect in children and thus is for adult use only. My favorite blend is called Theanine Serene with Relora (Amazon).

Theanine- Is an amino acid that comes from green tea and can cross the blood-brain barrier. It is known for its stress relieving properties. It can cross the blood-brain barrier. As an amino acid, Theanine helps you wind down before sleep, and then once asleep, can help you sleep more soundly through the night.

Many sleep blends also contains herbs and melatonin.

Common Sense Suggestions

Create a restful environment where you can sleep. My house is always cluttered, but I try to keep all of it out of the bedroom. A clean space can do wonders for peace of mind. I keep a bottle of lavender water next to my bed to spritz pillows with occasionally. My hubby loves it too. You can also try a lavender essential oil diffuser or a warm lavender bath.

Make sure you have a good mattress and pillow; the foundations are important.  We suffered with a queen mattress that was not very suitable to us, so I sold it on Craigslist to a new college student who loved it, and I was able to buy a king-sized mattress of even better quality for the same price that I had sold my old one.  Be creative in solving problems, as it does not always take extra money.

Have lights on a dimmer switch or use low wattage light bulbs. Low lighting can actually help trigger your body’s natural sleep cycle and induce melatonin. Turning on bright lights can interrupt the circadian rhythms.

Do not watch TV in the bedroom or work on the computer. Do not do stimulating activities such as exercise right before bed. Instead, try journaling, especially in a gratitude journal, listening to classical or soothing music or nature sounds, writing down what is on your mind, or reading a book that is not a page-turner.

Don’t drink alcohol or caffeine as both interfere with sleep patterns. Alcohol may seem to make you sleepy at first, but can disrupt sleep in the middle of the night or increase trips to the bathroom, which is obviously also disruptive.

Think of things that you are grateful for as you lie in bed. Gratitude can help combat some of the negative self-talk and other things that go along with what may be going on inside your head. Shifting to gratitude is a powerful tool.

Pray your way to sleep or use imagery to put yourself somewhere relaxing. I like to picture myself as a baby chick, wrapped in the shelter of His wings, and I do not think God minds if I fall asleep talking to Him in the middle of a prayer. Here are a few great ones:

  • Psalm 4:8: I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for Thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
  • Psalm 16:7: I will bless the Lord, Who hath given me counsel: my reins [heart] also instruct me in the night seasons.
  • Psalm 29:11: The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.
  • Psalm 34:7: The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.
  • Psalm 42:8: Yet the Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
  • Deuteronomy 33:12a: The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by Him.
  • 1 Kings 8:56a: Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto His people.
  • Job 11:18,19a: And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety. 19 Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid.

Imagining a peaceful setting can be helpful. My dad kept an erratic sleep schedule for thirty years while working as a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Rail Road, and he said that imagining the waves lapping at the shore and then receding further and further back into the ocean really helped him fall asleep. I remember him telling me this over a dozen years ago, so it has probably helped me as well.

“He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” Psalm 91:4 (NIV)

GOT MILK?

Drinking about 8-16 oz. of milk at bedtime, preferably warm if you like, is not just an old wives tale.  My grandmother swears by it, but so does science. Milk contains tryptophan, which the body converts into melatonin, helping you fall asleep very naturally. It has never been quite enough for me to take it alone, but in conjunction with some of my other recommendations, it should help.  If you do not drink milk, a slice of cheese can work also, but if you do not consume dairy products, there are plenty of other natural remedies to try.

HERBAL SLEEP TEAS

Making a cup of tea about an hour before bedtime can have both relaxation and health benefits. Green tea has been found to be a high anti-oxidant and weight-loss booster, and there are thousands of herbs that are used medicinally around the world that can be as or more effective than prescription medications.  Herbs for sleep are no exception, and if you look at the ingredients in most over-the-counter sleep aids, you will find many of them are herb-based. Using these in teas is just another way to get dosing, and can be used in conjunction with most of the other recommendations.

Many herbs can contraindicate with medications however, so be sure to talk with your doctor if you are on other prescription medications.  Remember that many drugs are based on herbs, so just because it is natural does not mean that it cannot be powerful.

There are many herbs that can be used in teas to aid in sleep. Valerian is especially helpful in helping people fall asleep, may improve the quality of sleep, and can even help with anxiety. Valerian by itself does not make a very good-tasting tea, so it is best to mask it with something else, like lemon balm and hops.  According to Mark Tengler, N.D., in his book, The Natural Physician’s Healing Therapies, Valerian should not be taken in conjunction with tranquilizers or antidepressants.

OVER THE COUNTER SLEEP REMEDIES

It took me a long time to find ones that worked for me. Melatonin by itself did nothing, nor did Valerian. It took combining several tactics until I finally found a natural over-the-counter one that worked.

QSleep sublingual spray by QSciences: ( $15-$20 @ www.medfreechild.com)

I recommend this one the most, but I have had to take it with GABA (see above) to shut my busy brain up. The reason I recommend it is my naturopath, Dr. Daniel Nuzum, says the best herbs for the brain are valerian, hops, passionflower, and skullcap. This one has most of them in one absorbable spray form, along with 5HTP. I read an entire book on 5HTP, and it is amazing!

QSleep contains:

  • 1mg of melatonin per serving. This specifically proportioned amount of melatonin is gentle enough to not raise melatonin levels in the body higher than are naturally produced when the pineal gland is functioning properly, but sufficient to aid in restful sleep.
  • 0.75 mg of 5-HTP per serving. 5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) is a chemical by-product of the protein building block L-tryptophan. It works in the brain and central nervous system to increase the production of serotonin, which affects sleep.
  • QSleep also contains a proprietary herbal extract to help a person stay asleep throughout the night. The proprietary extract includes the following:

o       Cramp bark: The chemicals in cramp bark seem to decrease muscle spasms.

o       Feverfew: The feverfew herb has many uses, but it seems to be effective for preventing migraine headaches, which can interfere with sleep

o       Ginkgo biloba: Ginkgo biloba leaves are generally used to make extracts that improve blood circulation, which might help the brain, eyes, ears, and legs function better.

o       Passionflower: The passionflower is a plant often used for insomnia, gastrointestinal (GI) upset related to anxiety or nervousness, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and relieving symptoms related to narcotic drug withdrawal. The chemicals in passionflower have been used for calming, sleep inducing, and muscle spasm relieving effects.

o       Peppermint: Studies have shown that the leaf and oil from the Peppermint plant provide numerous health benefits. It may aid in helping relieve muscle pain, nerve pain, digestive processes, upset stomach, and inflammation.

o       Skullcap: Most commonly, skullcap is used for trouble sleeping, anxiety, stroke, and spasms.

o       Valerian root: Valerian is an herb that has been used for centuries to help with anxiety and act as a sleep aid.

According to the Dr. Oz show on April 8, 2014: “Take a supplement that combines Valerian, Hops, and Passionflower to help you get a better night’s sleep. Dr. Low Dog shared a study that showed this combination to work as effectively as Ambien, but without the same side effects.”

Ambien used to be my sleep drug of choice, and it still amazes me that three little herbs can hold their own in medical research studies to a hypnotic drug that comes with scary side effects like sleepwalking and memory loss.

Homeopathic Calms Forte by HIGHLAND’S

This is a homeopathic sleep remedy that I found at Whole Foods market, but I personally did not find it to work for me.  I am including it, however, because mine is not the only bipolar brain out there, and it has worked great for some of my other friends who have bipolar.

Flower Essences: There are blends for sleep and dreaming (My only recommended source is Freedom Flowers, as how they are made is important. (http://www.freedom-flowers.com/about/)

Somnapure: Natural Sleep Aid by PEAK LIFE

This is a non-habit forming sleep aid that contains valerian root extract, lemon balm, L-Theanine, hops extract, chamomile flower extract, passion flower extract, and 3 mg of melatonin.  I found this one effective, but I thought that others were more effective but a lot less expensive.

AMINO ACIDS– An amino acid blend can help with sleep. My first experience with aminos I actually slept so deeply that I wet the bed. Yep, that happened. And I even slept through it!

5-HTP– is the precursor to melatonin production, and it worked a lot better for me than melatonin itself.

Reverse Psychology

This may seem too simple, but reverse psychology works even on yourself. Chant over and over: “I am not tired, I am not tired; I can’t fall asleep. I must stay awake.” There are other visualization tricks beyond counting sheep. You can find more good ideas at: http://www.sleepingtricks.com

Circadian Balancing

In approximately fifty percent of those who suffer from bipolar, the circadian system is unstable. Internal regulation of sleep patterns is weak. Our circadian system is what allows our body to maintain a consistent 24-hour cycle of activity: being able to sleep at night and alert during the day. At different times of the day we have increased or decreased activity of certain organs and hormones. These rhythms originate in our brain but are kept in check by external clues such as light and darkness, activities, meals, routines, etc. When these are working, we feel healthy, happy, and energized, but when they are out of balance a lot of problems can occur.

Things that can help balance the circadian system include:

  • Using an alarm clock that simulates the sunrise.
  • Using a light box for 30 minutes in the morning (note: bright light therapy should always be used with dark therapy to prevent switching to hypomania/mania.)
  • Dark Therapy- dimming lights 2-3 hours before bed or using low-light glasses can help. Even just a few seconds of bright light can trigger alertness.
  • Consistent routines. Eating, drinking, exercising, and other daily activities are best done at the same time everyday.

Summary Action Plan: APPLICATION:

For example: have a small but concentrated cup of tea (Chamomile, valerian, hops, passionflower, skullcap blend would be great!), then dim the lights around the house, play some relaxing music, drink a small glass of milk, brush your teeth, and take some GABA, then read for a while or pray before lights out. Spray the pillow with some lavender water. I usually need to also wear silicon earplugs and a sleep mask, as even a little light and noise are enough to re-stimulate my senses.  It has also been helpful to get my husband a z-quiet device that helps reduce his snoring. If you are the one who snores, be sure to eliminate any underlying causes like sleep apnea. As your eyes are closed and the room is dark, try some of the visualization tips and whisper some memorized scripture verses regarding sleep.

You have to apply as many of the best tips above for some of our “tougher to put to sleep” brains. Another day, perhaps I will tell you about how my sleep was miraculously healed in a prayer room, to where now I do not even have to use anything! WOW! lampsvisionOne day while praying, my room fell away and I saw two huge lamps taller than I am appear before me. They were identical in every way. They both produced light. They were both the same size, shape and color. I could see the light bulbs 💡 suspended within the lampshades, as if they were see-through. The light surrounding both of the them was radiant and beautiful.

I heard God say: “this is how it often is with false healings and signs and wonders. They look identical, so how can you tell the difference?”

I didn’t answer immediately, thinking, and then I appeared in the vision with the lamps as if there were two of me and I was watching my twin. Running my hand over the lamp’s chord, I saw myself kneeling to trace the chord behind a table and could feel the chord in my “empty” hand. I could see that each lamp was plugged into a different outlet.

“You get down on your knees and trace the power source,” God replied gently. “You get down on your knees and pray, and know my Word. But unlike false miracles that come with a price of slavery, mine are freely given now that Christ has paid your bill.”

It was then that each outlet morphed. Mist and darkness (Acts 13:11) poured out of one outlet, while beautiful rainbow  promises flowed out of the other.

I saw myself on my knees praying, an open Bible on the floor in front of me. The overwhelming power of God swirled about me both in the vision and when I found myself back in my room.

This vision had been a unique answer to a prayer  I had been asking for awhile. At first, other than my own visions, my only experiences with the supernatural were through work. I am in the natural mental health field, and I am surrounded by healers who operate under every other name but the real Jesus of Nazareth: names like Reiki, Yoga, Crystal Healing, Angel Readers. I love them all as Christ does…they are my friends and most just have a heart to heal others like I do. God sure does lead me into some very interesting conversations with them!

I regularly see their miracles, and like the snake tricks in Egypt, they get results. Hands on healings, instant fruit, and even call themselves light workers. But every time I checked where their miracles were coming from, they were involved with obvious sin and darkness. And there always seemed to be a price to pay somewhere else for those who had received astounding healing. I could actually watch the fruit wither on the vine within weeks or months.

I kept asking where God’s answer and version of this healing was, and He so graciously brought me to a Christian community where people are plugged into God, with genuine signs and wonders following. I have since seen His healings and answers to all the darkness in this world  which is no match for Him anyway!

If you ever see things that make you wonder, look at the source. Are they plugged into YHWH? The Word? Prayer? Is there lasting fruit in their life? Are you plugged into God, the author of all discernment?

Then, a couple months after drawing this picture, I walked into a furniture store and there were the twin lamps from my vision! In the flesh! God tingled my spirit with JOY, and I laughed out loud; I had just so happened to be looking for lamps for my living room, but not only that, they matched, and were half off (as I never would have bought them otherwise, and He knew it!). He is such a good good Father, and I am so thankful to be plugged into His heart.
