Demystifying Soul & Spirit

(Excerpt from upcoming book: Demystifying the Seer by Aspen Morrow)

The Difference between Soul and Spirit

“Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 ESV

In this verse, the body, soul and spirit are distinct and separate, however, in the Greek understanding, soul and spirit were often interchangeable; but in Hebrew thinking, and Biblical accuracy, the Body, Soul & Spirit are three distinct forms, and separate, similar to the function and picture of the Trinity. We are made in His image. Greek and Hebrew thinking are very different. Unfortunately, the western mindset is more linear Greek in nature, and Hebrew and God are very circular in thought.

Another way to look at the difference between the soul and the spirit and the vantage point (like line of sight) each has is in terms of height. Imagine the body, now picture the soul surrounding the body like the term ‘aura’, with an eye in the forehead of the ‘soul’, but with a vantage point to see from a ‘higher perspective’, like in the air, hovering slightly higher than the physical body/realm. Some people call the soul the ‘higher self’.

Satan is the prince of the air, and this is why the eyes of the soul are more prone to seeing things of that realm. Now picture a spirit-man above that, seated both in Heavenly places and on earth at the same time, being able to see far above the soul’s eye, having the advantage point of an eagle. The Kingdom of heaven is at hand, not just ‘higher’, but it is at a higher frequency.

So, when people are confused, or seeing things in the spirit they don’t want to, they need to pray and ask that their third eye be closed. Most people barely have their physical eyes open, let alone both the eye of their soul and the eye of their spirit. The enemy is prince of the air, and the third eye is positioned perfectly to see into the ‘air’, but not ‘seated’ in heavenly places, where it can see the things of God and the Kingdom. I will also cover this more in depth in the Demystifying the Seer & Demystifying Spirit Travel book, and how it differs from astral travel, which is also travel with the soul and not the spirit, and not something Christians should engage in.

If you are not saved, or Born Again, your spirit is still dead in sin. (Ephesians 2:1, Colossians 2:13, Proverbs 21:16, Matthew 8:22, Luke 15:32, John 6:53, Ephesians 5:14)

The soul is made up of your Mind, Will, Emotions, Choices, and is carnal and self-seeking. The spirit, once resurrected with Christ, lives for God, and becomes an active participant in the Kingdom of God.

“For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we united with Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:6 NLT

We WERE raised up, past tense. Seated. Not “will be seated when we die”. We ARE united with Christ Jesus. Religiously, we know that He lives in us, but we live in Him, in heaven, now. How is that possible? Because He is seated in the Father, and the Father is outside of time and space. He is omnipresent. When we tune into His will, we can see what He sees. This is how the eyes of our heart work. It is like seeing through God’s eye, in Jesus, in us. We can look out the window if His eye, His heart, and see so many wonderful things!

And seated there, there is no fear, of the enemy, or death, or disease, as it is ALL far below our feet, and we can laugh cause Daddy laughs.

“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age, but also in the one to come.” Ephesians 1:19-21 NLT
