Vision: Heaven’s Candy Store

“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure” (1 John 3:1-3 NASB).

In the middle of a worship service at a Nancy Coen conference in December, 2017, part of the room fell away, and I felt Daddy reach down and take my hand, pulling me (my spirit?) up quickly. I had the sensation of floating into a room without walls, but only saw huge, like 20 foot tall, old-fashioned gumball machines lined up in front of me. Still holding my hand, (I seemed to be about the age of 8 all of a sudden), I heard the Father say, “You feel so blessed by these people, and so happy to be here, and I know you want to give them something in return, so pick one.” I looked at the choices, and had no clue what to pick! “What should I pick, Daddy?” I could not see His face, shrouded in light, but he leaned over to whisper in my ear conspiringly: “How about the ‘goody-goody gumdrops’?”

At this, I laughed out loud, and even heard myself laugh in the worship room simultaneously. It was a tender, sweet, inside joke. My earthly Dad says this occasionally, and he got it from his father, who used to say, “oh Goody Goody Gumdrops!” while taking me to the zoo, or Children’s Museum of Indianapolis as a child. It always made me laugh. God’s voice was just so playful and tender when He suggested it, and I knew the choice was still mine to make. “The gumdrops it is”, I replied, and there appeared a gold coin in my dress pocket: reading on one side: “Free”, and on the other side, “Paid”. I knew everything in this store was part of my inheritance, cause Jesus’ blood had already paid the price. I took it the coin, put it in the machine, turned the knob, and gumdrops starting raining on everyone in the room in the Spirit! They were large, oversized, and drenched each person in sweet swirling rainbow colors. The sugar on them sparkled like diamonds as they absorbed into everyone, smiles erupting all around. I did not know what it all meant, but it was a lovely, sweet, and an intimate moment with my King. He loves to give good gifts to His children.

The next day, after the last session, I was alone for a few minutes in my mountain cabin bunk-room. “So, how do you feel about this weekend, Papa asked?” Without thinking, I blurted out: “I loved it! I feel like a kid in a candy store!” Realizing what I had just ‘accidentally’ said, we both laughed, remembering the experience He had given me the day before based on feelings I did not realize I even had yet! My biggest reason for feeling so delighted at the conference was because the whole weekend was spent around people like me: people who it had taken me my whole life to meet: people who hear from God regularly, like a close friend, or people who have dreams or visions they know are from the Lord, or have been taken in the Spirit by the Lord, or who regularly spend time in His Presence in Heaven as if that is just a normal every-day occurence. It should be. They are a People who walk in the Gifts of the Spirit, the Power and Might and Counsel of the Godly, who long for relationship above all else.

I am awed at Nancy Coen’s decades of walking in the supernatural, faith-filled obedience to the Savior she loves so much. Like I am just beginning to be, she has been ridiculed, shunned and labeled a heretic by people who do not understand her unique walk with the Lord. Let us be sweet, like she is, to those who persecute us for His name’s sake, especially when they are our dear brothers and sisters in Christ.

That weekend, I had at least a dozen experiences of God/Jesus/Holy Spirit talking to me about things, showing me things, explaining things even while I was taking notes, and four open visions at the conference. It was quite amazing! But the candy store with Daddy is one of my faves. I love how Abba Daddy is so fun, humorous, intimate and personal with His children, yet so Holy, awe-inspiring and worthy of our Love and Praise. One minute He can be a Dad, the next a stern Father, then a Husband, Friend, and Righteous Judge. He is my Creator, Inventor, my All in All.

I still don’t have all the answers as to why gumdrops fell on people in the Spirit, or what that gift meant, but I am sure He will tell me in due time. Other than the candy watercolor picture above by Andy Sewell, which I do not yet know the story behind, I do not know if others have had any encounters with a similar vision. If you have, please share!

Get to know Him, He so wants to be close to you, and walk with you, and talk with you, even though He already knows everything about you!

“Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” Psalm 34:8 (NLT)
